Magnet of Doom. Jean-Pierre Melville. 1963. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Watchable, some great moments, but mostly boring. The real flaw is the central relationship, you never really buy it. The rich guy isn't the poor guy's surrogate father, that energy doesn't radiate from the film. I'm talking out my ass but JPM's specialty seems to be examining cool/distant relationships, and for this movie to work there needs to be some tenderness in the central relationship's recipe.
