The Bingo Long Traveling All-Stars and Motor Kings. John Badham. 1976. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
When this movie is "having fun" it's so incredibly good. There's almost nothing like it. Alas, the ideologically promising hope that the film professes in its opening, that the players can create a team that everyone profits from equally, is subsumed by the power of the owners, then by petty greed/infighting, then by the ability of the white establishment to snap up the most promising talent, then finally by the heroes of the film themselves becoming owners.
